Studying the presidential candidates at Lincoln

Students at Lincoln Elementary School have been learning about presidential voting this week while a lever-style voting machine was in the entrance to the school.

Classes took turns voting as part of the National Mock Election program, which ends Oct. 30.

At Lincoln, there will be a morning political convention/rally including candidate endorsement speeches by grade 5 students, a voting song by students in grades K-3, a voting poem by grade 1 students, singing, songs and other activities during the convention/rally.

Results of the school voting will also be announced at that time.

The students could consider these candidates, who will also be on the official ballot Nov. 4 for the parents to consider:

h) Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente (Green)
i) Bob Barr and Wayne A. Root (Libertarian)
j) Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez (Populist)
