Special Meeting Minutes
A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Board Room of the District Office, in said district on July 28, 2008.
President of the Board of Education Margaret Smith called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Present: Benedetto, Carbone, Conlon, McCann, Normington, Smith, Yagielski, Superintendent Swartz, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kavanaugh, School Business Manager Giaquinto and District Clerk DeLong.

MOVED by Carbone that the Board of Education adopt the revised 2008-2009 school calendar, as

RATIFICATION OF MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE SCOTIA-GLENVILLE
TEACHERSÕ ASSOCIATION TEACHING ASSISTANTSÕ UNIT
MOVED by Yagielski that the Board of Education ratify the Memorandum of Agreement, dated July
28, 2008, with the Scotia-Glenville TeachersÕ Association Teaching AssistantsÕ Unit, for the period
July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2011, as submitted, and further authorize the Superintendent to sign
the contract. (This memorandum is contained as Appendix B to these minutes).

ROUTINE BUSINESS
a. Staffing
1) Approve the 2008-2009 salary of Joseph Kavanaugh, Director of Curriculum and Instruction (Districtwide) at the annual rate of $122,500, effective July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
2) Approve the part-time appointment of Gina M. Nielsen as Science Teacher (Biology) (Senior High School), effective September 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the rate of $19,413.20 (Step 8 +M +6, 40%). Ms. Nielsen has permanent certification. This appointment is conditioned on the school districtÕs receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision of Education Law ¤3035.
3) Approve the increase in assignment of Beth M. Collins, part-time Art Teacher (Glen-Worden) from 40% (Step 3 +M +18½) with 2008-2009 salary at the annual rate of $16,642 to 60% (Step 3 +M + 18½), with 2008-2009 salary to be at the annual rate of $24,963, effective September 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
4) Approve the part time appointment of Dawn McCarthy as Teacher Aide (Glen-Worden Elementary School), effective September 3, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the hourly rate of $9.00 (31.75 hours/week).
5) Approve the appointment of Rock A. Loiselle as Senior Automotive Mechanic (Transportation), in accordance with Civil Service regulations, effective July 29, 2008, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the annual rate of $43,014.40 (Step 1, $20.68/hour).
6) Approve the following additional employee for Seasonal Supplemental Help (Laborers, Cleaners) (Buildings and Grounds), with the hourly rate to be in accordance with the current contract with Local 766:
