- New
Science Research Course beginning in 2009-2010 to be discussed
on Dec. 2. Next year's sophomores are eligible

The
Board of Education on Monday, Oct. 27 formally moved
the $26.76 million building project foward by approving
bonding and environmental resolutions for a Dec. 16
community vote.
Absentee
ballot applications are available by calling 382-1222.
They can be picked up during regular business hours,
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last date for mailing ballots
is Dec. 9. All ballots must be returned by 5 p.m.
on Dec. 16.
Community
forums to further explain the proejct will be held
on Wednesday, Nov. 12 and Saturday,
Nov. 15. More information about these will
be forthcoming.
A
formal public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday,
Dec. 8 at the Middle School.
The
project would upgrade the high school and middle school
libraries, renovate 50-year-old and 34-year-old classrooms,
expand science labs at the middle school, install solar
panels on Sacandaga Elementary and install synthetic
turf to create a multi-sport field on the current football
field.
The project would raise taxes by a maximum of 1.9 percent
phased in over three years.

During
the Board of Education's organizational meeting July 14, Margaret
Smith was re-elected to a fifth one-year term as president
of the Board of Education by a 4-3 vote, defeating Ben Conlon.
Gary Normington, entering his third year on the board, was
elected vice president by a 5-2 vote over Pam Carbone.
