Students, staff help needy through coat collection for City Mission Students at Scotia-Glenville High school and staff from throughout Scotia-Glenville's schools collected 720 coats to donate to the City Mission in Schenectady. At the high school, the event was part of the Spirit Week competition between the four class years - freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. The coats will be distributed during the City Mission's November coat program for the needy, said Liz Chamberlain, director of development at the mission. She said the October coat program distributed more than 1,000 coats. Students brought the coats into school on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The mission picked them up at the end of the day. Students on the girls' soccer and volleyball teams and boys' basketball teams loaded the coats into bags and put them into the truck. |
