Scotia-Glenville Board of Education and
administrators agree to three-year contract
The Board of Education tonight agreed to a three-year contract with
the Scotia-Glenville Administrators' Association.
The pact covers the 17 building and department administrators in the
school district. Their salaries range from $72,000 to $110,000 per year,
based on position and experience. The previous contract expired on June
30.
The contract has the following new provisions:
-
Salary increases
of 4 percent retroactive to July 1, 2008 in the 2008-09 school year;
4 percent in the 2009-10 school year and 4.25 percent in the 2010-11
school year. Administrators do not receive automatic "step"
salary increases like teachers.
-
Elimination
of the expensive Blue Shield Par Plus health insurance option to be
replaced by the Blue Shield PPO for current employees and retirees,
with a rider for chemotherapy and radiation provided by the school
district.
-
Increase
in the three tier co-pay for prescriptions from the current $5, $20
and $30 to $5, $20 and $35.
-
For administrators
hired after July 1, 2010, and after 10 years of experience, the amount
the district pays toward individual and family insurance will drop
from the current 90 percent to 88 percent in retirement.
-
Add a 30-day
notice of intent to resign.
The new contract expires
on June 30, 2011.
The association approved the agreement overwhelmingly, said Lynda Castronovo,
high school principal and president of the Scotia-Glenville Administrators'
Association.
