MOVING ON TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Many of you are probably wondering what will happen next year when your 5th grader moves on to middle school. WeÕd like you to know about a few of the activities being planned to help you and your child feel comfortable and be ready for middle school.
We will have a Student and Parent Orientation Meeting for current 5th grade students AND parents on March 11, 2010 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the middle school. Everyone should report to the auditorium. This program will help parents and students become more familiar with the middle school. Students will be in one meeting while parents are in another. There is a question and answer time for both groups.
Secondly, we will invite the 5th graders from each elementary school to participate in a visitation to the middle school. 5th graders from each elementary school will come over while the middle school is in session and meet some of the 6th grade teachers, some of the current middle school staff, and get a tour of the building. Please mark the date for your childÕs visit on your calendars at home. The visitations will be in the morning and students will return to their elementary schools before lunch. Please try to schedule any appointments for times other than those listed below so your child can be present for the visitation.

We will also have a summer orientation program in late August. This allows students to walk through the school, locate their homeroom and locker, and take a look at their tentative schedule. They will also be able to purchase their lock for their locker so they can practice their new combination. This prevents much anxiety for the first few days of school!
We are looking forward to your children and family being a part of our middle school family. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Shari Keller, Middle School Principal, at 382-1263.
