Mission Statement

The mission of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District Fine Arts department is multifaceted. Through the study of the arts, students will develop a language for expression, skills for creative literacy, as well as cognitive, emotional social and psychomotor skills. The study of the arts provides students with an outlet for their creative abilities and individuality. Students will develop a life-long appreciation for the arts, as well as the integration of the arts into their daily lives. Students will have exposure to cultural forms. They will learn to balance the arts with other life experiences. Through the arts, students will be reminded of the beauty of the world. The Fine Arts department provides service for all curricular needs of students, to enhance their intellectual capabilities. Historical context and literacy (in art, music and language) are all important components of the program. The New York State Standards for the Arts are the guidelines through which our mission is channeled
